Victor Braswell “Vic” Barkley of Falls City, Texas, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2011. He was born Sept. 4, 1921, in North Carolina.

Vic served his country during World War II. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1982.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Iris Barkley; and his granddaughter, Dana Barkley.

Vic is survived by his sons, Cliff Barkley and wife Mary Ann of Buda and Michael Barkley and wife Karen of Newcastle, Wash.; his daughter, Marilyn Chestnut and husband Doug of Lakeside, Mont.; grandchildren Lauren Dowling, Stephen Barkley, Cara Chestnut, Amanda Barkley, and Adam Barkley; and sisters Gwendolyn, Marion, and Vera.

A private funeral service was held.

Inurnment followed in the Barkley Cemetery in North Carolina.
