Offer condolences


Mary Magdalene Jackson, 84, of La Vernia, Texas, passed away Thursday, Aug. 11, 2011. Mary was born July 7, 1927, in San Antonio to Price Lee and Rebecca (Walker) Chipman. She was the last living of seven children.

Mary was the former owner of Mary’s Flower Shop in San Antonio.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arvel B Jackson Sr.; and six brothers and sisters.

Mary is survived by her daughters, Mary Jones of Seguin, Linda Rutledge and husband Wayne of La Vernia, Rebecca Hendrix of San Antonio, and Arvel B Jackson Jr. and wife Yolanda of Refugio; grandchildren Cheryl Ducharme and husband Jody of La Vernia, Wayne Rutledge Jr. and wife Patricia of La Vernia, Billy Smith of Seguin, and Laura Bonilla and husband Bobby of San Antonio; great-grandchildren Faith, Charity, Julia, Mandi, Bubba, Ashley, Amber, and Zachary; and other loving family.

Visitation was held Saturday, Aug. 13, from 1-2 p.m. in the Finch Funeral Chapel in La Vernia.

A funeral service was held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with Pastor Royce Smith officiating.

Interment followed in the Sutherland Springs Cemetery in Sutherland Springs.

Memorial donations may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
