Tyler Pruski, a graduate of East Central High School, is among 10 San Antonio-area recipients of Ford Blue Oval Scholarships. Addressing the skills gap and critical need for work-force development in advanced manufacturing careers. the SME Education Foundation, in partnership with Ford Motor Co. Fund and Community Services, presents Ford Blue Oval Scholarships to graduating high school students to further their education in engineering and related technologies.

Tyler will attend Texas A&M University in College Station to pursue a degree in petroleum engineering. An outstanding student in terms of academics, extra-curricular involvement, and character, Tyler was the class valedictorian, ranking first out of 639 students. Raised on a farm and influenced by his parents, graduates of Texas A&M, and two older brothers, also academically accomplished, he excelled in AP classes with honors. A member of the Beta Club and the National Honor Society, he was also involved in 4-H and was a committed volunteer at his church and community projects.

The Ford Blue Oval Scholarship, a one-time gift, allows students to apply for subsequent awards. It was established in the summer of 2009 with plans to expand to other U.S. cities, and in 2012, a global component will be introduced.
