Help Wanted

ON-CALL CRISIS POOL WORKERS NEEDED. Part-time positions are available for after hours “on-call” crisis workers to respond to mental health crisis for Wilson and Karnes Counties. Duties include crisis interventions, assessments, referrals to stabilization services, and referrals for involuntary treatment services according to the Texas Mental Health Laws. You must have at least a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, sociology, social work, nursing, etc. On-call hours are from 5 p.m.-8 a.m. weekdays, weekends and holidays vary. If selected, you must attend required training and must be able to report to designated safe sites within 1 hour of request for assessment. Roy Preston Hemby, 80, passed away Thursday, Sept. 8, 2011. He was born Sept. 20, 1930, to Harvey Hemby and Bessie (West) Neyland.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, John Neyland.

Roy is survived by his wife of 58 years, Vera (Kirksey) Hemby of Seguin, Texas; his daughters, June Meredith and husband Glenn of San Antonio, and Donna Fisher and husband Bobby of Austin; his son, Roy W. Hemby of Seguin; and grandchildren Jason Meredith and wife Kristen of Austin, and Denay Green and husband Mike of Calgary, Canada. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Tyler Meredith and Liam Green, both of Calgary, Canada, and Avery Meredith and Mason Meredith, both of Austin; his brothers, Larry Neyland and wife Vera of Stockdale, and Wayne Neyland and wife Linnie of Victoria; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.

Visitation was held Monday, Sept. 12, from 1-2 p.m. in the Finch Funeral Chapel in Stockdale.

A funeral service was held Monday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with Donald Neyland officiating.

A private interment followed.

Memorial donations may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
