1920-2011

Esther Mae Ogburn went to be with our God on Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2011. Born Oct. 16, 1920, she was the youngest of nine children born to German immigrants near the communities of Dewees and Three Oaks in Wilson County, Texas.

She touched the lives of many and she treasured each one. Esther Mae loved her pets and enjoyed her family. She worked for the San Antonio Drug Co. and was a member of Peace Lutheran Church and Hermann Sons.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Artis Rex Ogburn; and by her parents and siblings.

Esther Mae is survived by her two sons, Charles Cordell Ogburn and wife Linda, and Curtis Warren Ogburn and wife Cindy; seven grandchildren, Christopher, Crystal, Clinton, Candice, Cheri, Connie, and Chelsea; five great-grandchildren; one niece; three nephews; and many, many friends.

The family wishes to extend a very special thanks to the loving and caring staff at Country Care Manor in La Vernia.

Visitation was held Thursday, Sept. 8, from 6-8 p.m. in the Dellcrest Funeral Home in San Antonio.

A funeral service was held Friday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home.

Interment followed in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Poth with Pastor Michael Lawrence-Weden presiding.

Esther Mae’s grandchildren served as pallbearers.

Memorial donations may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
