$7,500 reward offered

The Texas Department of Public Safety is looking for a convicted sex offender who goes by the nicknames “Bitty Boy” and “Chief” and is believed to be in the Lawton, Oklahoma, area. A $7,500 reward is offered for information leading to the arrest of Gwen Komahcheet, one of the Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitives.

Komahcheet is a member of the Comanche Nation of Oklahoma, and he has family in the Lawton area. Authorities in Texas and Oklahoma continue to receive tips that he has been spotted on an Indian reservation in Lawton. He is known to carry weapons, and may frequent casinos in the Lawton area. After he was released from prison, he took several jobs working in leather shops.

Komahcheet has been on the run since 2004, shortly after his release from prison. He had served 24 years of a 75-year sentence for aggravated rape with a firearm. The above photograph is from 2004. Komahcheet is reported to look thinner than in the photo, and may possibly look as if he is ill. He has scars on his upper left arm, back, left eye, left ear and right cheek.

Harboring a fugitive can lead to state and/or federal charges, with sentences varying from five to 10 years in prison. Anyone found to have been helping Komahcheet avoid arrest will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

∑ In Texas, Komahcheet is wanted for a parole violation.

∑ His last known address in Texas is Spring.

∑ In Oklahoma, he is wanted for failure to register as a sex offender.

∑ Komahcheet also has a federal warrant issued by the Bureau of Indian Affairs.

Texas Crime Stoppers, which is funded by the Governor’s Criminal Justice Division, offers cash rewards to any person who provides information that leads to the arrest of one of the 10 Most Wanted Fugitives or Sex Offenders. Anyone with information can provide anonymous tips in three different ways:

∑ Call the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-252-TIPS (8477).

∑ Text the letters DPS--followed by your tip--to 274637 (CRIMES) from your cell phone.

∑ Submit a tip through the DPS website by selecting the fugitive you have information about, and then clicking on the link under their picture to submit a web tip.

All calls, texts or e-mails are anonymous, and tipsters will be given a tip number. You do not have to give your name.

Do not attempt to apprehend fugitives yourself; they are considered armed and dangerous.
