Ephrem James Jarzombek, a resident of Falls City, Texas, entered eternal rest Friday, Sept. 9, 2011, at 3:21 p.m. in his residence in Falls City at the age of 78 years, 6 months, and 20 days. Ephrem was born Feb. 20, 1933, in Wilson County, the son of Henry and Mary Krawietz Jarzombek.

He attended Poth schools, and worked as a printing press operator at Gaylord-Inland in San Antonio for 34 years.

Ephrem married Virgie Mae Jansky on April 27, 1957, in the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Poth. He was a member of the K.J.T. and the Knights of Columbus.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Albert Jarzombek; and his sister, Elizabeth Gembler.

Ephrem is survived by his beloved wife of more than 54 years, Virgie Jarzombek of Falls City; his daughter, Deborah Swierc and husband Bob of Austin; and his son, Kenneth Jarzombek and wife Angie “Bailey” of La Vernia. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jacqueline Willard and Bobbie Joe Swierc, both of Austin, and Kenneth Jarzombek Jr., Sarah Jarzombek, and Klayton Jarzombek, all of La Vernia; his great-grandchild, Hunter Jarzombek of La Vernia; his sisters, Lillian Kotzur and husband Stanley of San Antonio and Joyce Moczygemba of San Antonio; his brother, Eugene Jarzombek and wife Lorena of Floresville; his sister-in-law, Eleanor Jarzombek; and his brother-in-law, Sam Jansky and wife Martha of Kenedy.

Visitation was held Monday, Sept. 12, at 5 p.m. in the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Falls City, with a rosary recited at 7:30 p.m.

A funeral Mass was celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the church, with Father Gregory Sawicki officiating.

Interment followed in the Blessed Sacrament Cemetery in Poth.

Serving as pallbearers were Kenneth Jarzombek Jr., Klayton Jarzombek, Sam Jansky Jr., Brandon Willard, Randy Moczygemba, and Gerald Mocyzgemba.
