1931-2011

Lillian Rose Hahn Kotara went to be with the Lord on Monday, Sept. 5, 2011, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on Nov. 27, 1931, in Hobson, Texas, and was laid to rest on Friday, Sept. 9, after more than seven years battling lung cancer.

As a teenager, she was a twirler for Karnes City High School. Lillian later graduated with the first graduating class of Falls City.

In 1949, at a dance in Cestohowa, Lillian met Gus Kotara. They were married on April 21, 1951, and recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.

Lillian was a great sketch artist and cook, talents she passed to her children and grandchildren. Later, she turned her talents to gardening roses. Lillian had a beautiful voice and sang in the church choir for many years and was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church for more than 50 years. She was a member of the Lone Star Bunco Club for 58 years and always looked forward to playing dice with her friends each month.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Genevieve Hahn; her brother, Eddie Hahn; her sister, Margaret Merta; and grandchildren Jason and Lindsey Kotara.

Lillian is survived by her treasured husband, August “Gus” Kotara; five children, Clay Kotara and wife Terry, Lynette Sturm and husband Danny, Rodney Kotara, Jeffrey Kotara and wife Linda, and Kelly Rey and husband Brian; her sisters, Gen Gabrysch and Theresa Trial; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and godchildren.

Lillian’s family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Thomas Fisher and his staff and Vitas Hospice.
