Richard and Virginia Kotara of China Grove, Texas, are proud to announce the engagement and upcoming marriage of their daughter, Kimberly Lynn, to Shawn Avery, the son of Roger Avery of San Antonio and Cynthia Murray of Angleton.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Cleo and Anne Kotara, and the late Ben and Clara Wiatrek, all formerly of San Antonio.

The prospective groom is the grandson of Lillian Porter of San Antonio, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Porter of Schertz, and the late Lucy Campbell, formerly of San Antonio.

The couple both graduated from East Central High School. Kimberly is currently employed as a dispatcher for North East A.C., Heating, & Plumbing Services Inc. in Converse. Shawn is currently a second-year apprentice for the San Antonio Plumbers & Pipefitters Union Local No. 142.

The couple plan to exchange vows on Saturday, Oct. 8, 2011, in St. Jerome’s Catholic Church in Martinez, with the Rev. John Flanagan presiding.

The couple will reside in Martinez.
