Help Wanted

Immanuel Lutheran Church is now hiring for a Youth and Family Ministry Director. Pastoral: Minister to youth and their families during Sunday School and other church programs, being present in their lives outside the church walls, available for common concerns and in crisis situations. Leadership: Recruit and nurture Youth and Family Ministry program. Administration : Manage the planning process and coordinate with Pastor and Youth Committee all regular ministries to youth and their families. This includes youth of all ages on Sunday mornings and mid-week events; assisting with Confirmation, special events, trips and retreats, and parent meetings. Stewardship: Ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of youth programs, manage youth ministry budget, and collaborate with the sponsors of each Youth group. Ability to build, lead, and empower youth. Ability to implement a ministry vision. Familiarity with Lutheran Doctrine required; must be comfortable teaching it and representing Lutheran Theology. Proficient computer skills using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, database, email, internet, and social media. Supervisory experience preferred. Ability to adapt and evaluate curriculum preferred. Must have excellent organization, communication (verbal and written), and listening skills, with a high degree of initiative and accountability. Exceptional interpersonal and relational skills required, with sensitivity to church members and visitors. Understanding and enjoyment of youth and families and guiding their spiritual development. Stockdale runners compete in Moulton, San Antonio

The Stockdale cross-country teams have been busy as of late, and recently competed in the Moulton and Ricardo Romo meets.

The Brahma and Lady Brahma runners traveled to Moulton Sept. 10, and the teams returned home with strong showings.

In the varsity boys division, the Stockdale team finished in fifth place. Tristan Marquez led the way for the Brahmas with a time of 20:21, followed by Perry Bone at 20:27, Austin Gonzales at 20:39, and Ethan Chavez with a time of 20:47. Michael Opela completed the course in a time of 21:05, Jordan Jackson was a second back at 21:06, and Frank Flores followed in a time of 21:46. Clayton Woodside ran the course in 25:35, it took Gerald Gonzalez 25:49, and William Morris finished in a time of 25:53.

Sarah Holguin, Samantha Jones, Haley Wallace, and Victoria Lerma represented the Lady Brahmas, and Holguin led the way with a time of 16:08. Jones finished with a time of 17:13, Wallace ran the course in 19:14, and Lerma completed the task in 20:46.

In the middle school boys division, the Stockdale team finished in third place. Joel Marquez was sixth overall with a time of 13:14, followed by Austin Akin at 14:21, Joshua Rangel at 14:22, and Samuel Scriven with a time of 14:33. Aaron Wallace ran the course in a time of 16:32, Mark Salinas finished at 17:04, Devin McMahan did it in a time of 18:44, and D.J. Garner went home with a time of 20:34.

The Stockdale cross-country team went on to participate in the Ricardo Romo / Six Flags Fiesta Texas / H-E-B Classic Sept. 17.

In the Class 2A varsity boys division, Stockdale finished in 14th place. Bone led the Brahmas with his time of 20:42, followed by Flores with a time of 21:07, Chavez with a time of 21:24, and Jackson, who clocked in at 21:53. Gonzales finished with a time of 22:47, Gonzalez completed the run in 24:21, and Morris wasn’t far behind at 26:49.

Three athletes ran for the Lady Brahmas during the meet. Holguin finished with a time of 17:47, just seconds ahead of Jones at 17:54, and Wallace at 18:17.
