1929-2011

Millard Roger Battles, 82, of Fischer, Texas, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2011. Millard was born May 17, 1929, in Purvis, Miss., to Demon and Della Battles. He married Kazumi Asakami.

Millard was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.

He is survived by his children, Kenneth Battles, Roy Battles and wife Patti, Cathy Zotz and husband Willie, Jeff Battles and wife Diane, and Melissa Spencer and husband Brent; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held Monday, Oct. 3, from 5-8 p.m. in the Finch Funeral Chapel in La Vernia.

A funeral service was held Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel.

Interment followed Tuesday at 1:45 p.m. in the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 4101 S. Alameda, Corpus Christi, TX 78411.
