POTEET -- Three Poth Pirette cross-country runners placed in the top 10 at the Poteet meet Sept 24, helping the Poth girls win second-place team honors. The Pirettes missed finishing first place by a single point. The varsity boys also ran well to finish fifth at the meet.

Running on a 2.2-mile course, Justine Quintanilla placed second overall for the Pirettes with a time of 14:52. Whitney Lynch and Devon Dylla placed fifth and sixth, respectively, with times of 15:13 and 15:25. In her cross-country debut run, Kelli Kolodziej ran a 15:58 for Poth -- good enough for a 13th-place finish, and Keeley McKinney finished 23rd with a time of 16:51.

Sophomore Dylan Sefcik was the top runner for the Pirates with a fourth-place finish and a time of 20:01 on a 3.4-mile course. Spencer Flieller and Thomas Rodriquez finished 14th and 16th, respectively, with times of 20:27 and 20:45. Marcos Guevara ran a 21:35 for a 21st-place finish, and Jake Sekula was the final member competing for the Pirate team. Sherman Evans ran in the junior varsity division and placed fifth for a medal as well.
