EAST CENTRAL -- The “buzz” around campus is that the East Central High School Floral Design classes are holding their annual homecoming mum sales. Students will be creating beautiful mums for the Hornets. Mum prices range from $10 to $35, with extras, such as extra ribbons, starting at 75 cents.

Proceeds from the mum sales help fund the flowers needed for students to gain experience. In the spring, students will be able to test for state certification through the Texas State Florist Association.

Show your school spirit and purchase mums. To place an order, contact Lorie Kempen at 210-581-1185 or

In addition, the East Central Floral Evaluation Team was named state champion and will represent Texas at the National FFA Convention Oct. 17-22.
