The Floresville Musical Club has chosen Katelyn Martinez to represent the organization in this year’s Peanut Festival. Katelyn, the 18-year-old daughter of Al and Cheryl Martinez of Floresville, is the granddaughter of Waldo and Lydia Martinez of Floresville and Anton and Maxine Lyssy of Tower Lake Estates.

Katelyn is an active member of Sacred Heart Church. She is the past president of the local chapter of the Junior Catholic Daughters of the Americas and is currently serving as the first vice president of the Junior Catholic Daughters of America on the state level.

During her years at Floresville High School, she has been involved with several organizations and was on the Jaguar softball team her freshman year.

Katelyn has chosen Richard Marrero as her escort. Richard, 17, is the son of Ray and Olga Marrero of Floresville. He plays in the drum line with the Mighty Tiger Band and is captain of the tenor section. He also is involved with varsity soccer and the Link Crew, and is in the National Honor Society as parliamentarian, along with other organizations.

Katelyn would like to thank Richard for being her escort and his family for their support.
