Dorothy Merlene McMeans Metz Goodson was born Nov. 3, 1928, in Stockdale, Texas, and traded her earthly body for her angel’s wings on Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2011, in San Antonio. She was the second of six children born to Murl and Annie McMeans.

Two husbands, Max Mertz and Edwin Goodson, preceded her in death, as well as her parents and four nephews, Rick, Chet, and Ken Kolberg, and Clint McMeans.

Merlene is survived by four children, Randall Metz and wife Leah, Michael Metz and wife Dianna, Richard Metz and wife Christina, and Sandra Ann Metz; her grandchildren, Dustin, Nicole, Michael Jr., Samantha Arlene, Austin, and Randi Ann; four sisters, Vivian Posey, Barbara Hines, Betty Main, and JoAnn Green; a brother, J.O. McMeans; one aunt and uncle; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A memorial service was held Tuesday, Oct. 4, at 7 p.m. in the Mission Park Funeral Chapels South in San Antonio.
