Esta Linnstaedter of China Spring, Texas, passed away Monday, Sept. 26, 2011. Esta was born July 1, 1918, in Denhawken (near Stockdale) to Charles and Annie Bohmann. She was raised in Denhawken and went to St. John’s Lutheran Church during her early years.
Esta graduated from Stockdale High School. She received her bachelor’s degree form Southwest Texas State Teachers College in San Marcos. She taught in National Youth Administration Centers and taught most of her 29 years of teaching in the Waco public schools. Esta spent several years volunteering at Providence Hospital. She also enjoyed tutoring children at her home for many years, after retiring from teaching in public schools. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church and served in various capacities of the church.
Esta was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Fritz Linnstaedter.
She is survived by a daughter, LaNelle McNamara; a son, Don Linnstaedter; her grandson, Jeff Linnstaedter and wife Dorie; her great-grandchildren, Grant Linnstaedter and Jordyn Linnstaedter; and a sister-in-law, Bernadine Cooper. She is also survived by her nephews, Robert Bohmann and Gene Apple; and her nieces, Sandra Debner, Carole Reed, and Connie Pressler.
The family wishes to sincerely thank the following caregivers for their excellent love and care during these last years, Nireta Oliver, Mary Harper, Corylette Williams, Evelyn Persons, and Julia Bryant.
A graveside service was held Thursday, Sept. 29, in the Oakwood Cemetery in Waco, with the Rev. Paul Fiske officiating.
Memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
