Hoyt G. “Jerry” Dispain, 80, went to be with his Lord in his home in St. Hedwig, Texas, surrounded by his family on Thursday, Sept. 29, 2011. Jerry was born in Atlanta, Ga., on Jan. 24, 1931.

Jerry served proudly in the U.S. Air Force as an airplane electrical mechanic, as a chief master sergeant in the Air Force Reserve, and retired with 36 years civil service at Kelly Air Force Base in San Antonio. He enjoyed working on his 60-acre ranch, and being a servant for the Lord.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 55 years, Margery; their three children, Grady Dispain and wife Mercedes, Kathy Hardin and husband Paul, and Jack Dispain and wife Ginger. Additionally, he was blessed with four grandchildren, Ethan, Emily, Chase, and Faith, who will miss him dearly. He is also survived by sisters Frances Morrow of Covington, Ga., Irene Hyatt of Madison, Ala., Martha Jones of Green Mountain, N.C., Margie Winn of Lawrenceville, Ga., and Helen Alewine of Commerce, Ga.; and his brothers, Charles Dispain of Duluth, Ga., Hollis Dispain of Covington, and James Dispain of Loganville, Ga.

Visitation was held Wednesday, Oct. 5, from 6-8 p.m. in the Mission Park Funeral Chapel South in San Antonio.

A funeral service was held Thursday at 10 a.m. in the First Baptist Church in Universal City.

Interment followed in the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.

Memorial donations may be made to The Gideon Bibles International at www.gideons.org or to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org.
