KARNES CITY -- The 19th annual Lonesome Dove Fest held in Karnes City offers fun for the whole family. Contributing to the festival’s success were events and entertainment, which provided fun for the whole family.

The events included a parade, swamp master performance, snake handler exhibition, live auction, musical entertainment by John Wayne Schultz, and the main event -- The Black Gold Shoot Out.

The team that once again took home first-place honors in the sporting clays competition was Jokers Wild.

It was the team’s fifth-straight year to win the event, and one team member, Kenneth Kotara, finished the competition with the highest individual score and was named as the overall top gun.

The annual Lonesome Dove Fest is sponsored by the Karnes City Rotary Club, as well as the generosity of many other sponsors. This event always kicks off the beginning of the South Zone dove-hunting season.
