Texas Parks and Wildlife Department biologist Rufus Stephens will host an informational event titled Hunting for Habitat, Thursday, Oct. 13, beginning at 6 p.m. at the Cibolo Nature Center. The center is located at 140 City Park Road in Boerne.

Over the years, elimination of predators from the Texas Hill Country has contributed to high populations of deer and feral hogs that threaten the health and diversity of native animals and plants. Stephens will discuss the consequences of high populations of deer and hogs, and explain the role that hunting plays in the conservation of native wildlife. The event is free with advance registration.

For more information or to register, visit www.cibolo.org/calendar, call Cindy Glass at 830-249-4616, or e-mail na-ture@cibolo.org.
