Offer condolences


Joseph Henry “Joe” Kunze Sr., 75, passed away Saturday, Oct. 22, 2011. He was born July 21, 1936, to Alfred and Josephine (Daura) Kunze.

Joe retired from Pearl Brewery after 32 years in 1998.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Alfred “Freddy” Kunze Jr.; and his sisters, Rose Newburg, Patsy Pooley, and Mary Jo Nichols.

Joe is survived by his wife of 19 years, Linda (Gibson) Kunze; and his children, Nancy Turner and husband Frank, Jonett Story and husband Russell, Joseph “Jody” Kunze Jr. and wife Becki, Shelley Moore and husband Jimmy, and Kelley Cole and husband Mark. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Dustin Turner, Damian Gatta, Chance Turner and wife Kelsey, Travis Turner, Cade Story and Holly Coleman, Lindsey Story, Russell “Rusty” Story Jr., Mason Kunze, Zoe Kunze, Jalen Moore, Jada Moore, Ashley Robledo, and Austen Robledo; his great-grandchildren, Brody and Dansley Turner; brother-in-law Arland Nichols; sister-in-law Frances Kunze; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family would like to thank everyone who donated blood for Joe in the past months.

Visitation was held Monday, Oct. 24, from 4-8 p.m. in the Finch Funeral Home Chapel in La Vernia, Texas with a rosary recited at 7 p.m.

A funeral service was held Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel.

Interment followed in the Concrete Cemetery in Guadalupe County.

Active pallbearers were Joe’s grandchildren and honorary pallbearers were Donald Ferrell, Harley Schnitz, Fred “Boots” Waltisperger, Glenn “Bubba” Andrews, Kenny Freeman, Dennis Snow, and Sam Orrender.

Memorial donations may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, 1311 Mamaroneck Avenue, Suite 310, White Plains, N.Y. 10605.
