Immanuel Lutheran Church is now hiring for a Youth and Family Ministry Director. Pastoral: Minister to youth and their families during Sunday School and other church programs, being present in their lives outside the church walls, available for common concerns and in crisis situations. Leadership: Recruit and nurture Youth and Family Ministry program. Administration : Manage the planning process and coordinate with Pastor and Youth Committee all regular ministries to youth and their families. This includes youth of all ages on Sunday mornings and mid-week events; assisting with Confirmation, special events, trips and retreats, and parent meetings. Stewardship: Ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of youth programs, manage youth ministry budget, and collaborate with the sponsors of each Youth group. Ability to build, lead, and empower youth. Ability to implement a ministry vision. Familiarity with Lutheran Doctrine required; must be comfortable teaching it and representing Lutheran Theology. Proficient computer skills using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, database, email, internet, and social media. Supervisory experience preferred. Ability to adapt and evaluate curriculum preferred. Must have excellent organization, communication (verbal and written), and listening skills, with a high degree of initiative and accountability. Exceptional interpersonal and relational skills required, with sensitivity to church members and visitors. Understanding and enjoyment of youth and families and guiding their spiritual development. Frank Steve Guzy, a longtime resident of Floresville, Texas, entered eternal rest Friday, Oct. 21, 2011, at 3:55 a.m. in his residence in Floresville, at the age of 80 years, 10 months, and 3 days. Frank was born Dec. 18, 1930, in Yorktown in Dewitt County, the son of Florian Victor and Mary Ledwig Guzy.

Frank married Dolores Cervantes on April 27, 1956, in the St. Patrick Catholic Church in San Antonio.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother-in-law, Ed Geyer.

Frank is survived by his beloved wife of more than 55 years, Dolores Guzy of Floresville; his children, Brenda Peralez and husband Joe of San Antonio, Betty Morales of Floresville, Joyce Garza and husband Raul of Helotes, Frances Guzy of Marble Falls, and Florian “Frank” Guzy and wife Joannie of San Antonio; his sisters, Angeline Geyer of Somerset and Patricia Jablonski and husband Henry of San Antonio; and numerous grandchildren, great-granchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Visitation was held Sunday, Oct. 23, at 5 p.m. in the Vinyard Funeral Home Chapel in Floresville, with a rosary recited at 6 p.m.

A funeral Mass was celebrated Monday at 11 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Floresville with Father Phillip Henning officiating.

Interment followed in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Floresville.

Serving as pallbearers were Edward Geyer Jr., Richard Vasquez, Christopher Garza, David Jablonski, Robert Medina, and Pedro Morales.

Memorial donations may be made to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1009 Trail Street, Floresville, TX 78114.
