Supreme Meat Purveyors, a San Antonio establishment, is recalling approximately 22,100 pounds of carne guisada. The products contain soy, a known allergen, which is not declared on the label, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Food Safety and Inspection Service announced Oct. 25.
The products subject to recall include cases containing two, 5-lb. bags of frozen carne guisada with a case code of 71087/506004, 500233, or 600100.
The cases were distributed to restaurants in Louisiana and Texas.
The case label lists “beef base” as an ingredient. Soy, an ingredient in the beef base, is not listed as an ingredient on the case label.
Consumers with questions about the recall should contact Sue Rosen, office manager, at 210-224-9672.
