EC High School students recognized as National Scholars

East Central High School is proud to announce that three of their students earned national recognition for their academic achievement on the 2010 PSAT. The Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship is administered every October to ninth-, 10th-, and 11th-grade students. Awards are determined by each student’s junior year PSAT score.
Julia Johnson and Jared Jaksik are recognized as Commended Students in the National Merit Scholarship Program. The Commended Students placed among the top 5 percent of more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2012 competition by taking the 2010 PSAT.
About 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional promise. Julia and Jared are recognized with an official certificate from the National Merit Scholarship Corp.
Joseph Mora is recognized as a National Hispanic Scholar by the College Board. The National Hispanic Recognition Program is recognizing nearly 5,000 students from a pool of more than 235,000 Hispanic students who took the 2010 PSAT exam. They must also carry a GPA of at least 3.5. Joseph is also recognized with an official certificate from the College Board.
Julia, Jared, and Joseph are part of an elite group of students with award information being shared with colleges and universities across the nation.
