Clemente S. Courvier Sr. passed away on Thursday, Oct. 27, 2011, in Floresville, Texas, at the age of 79 years, 5 months, and 20 days. He was born on May 7, 1932, in Floresville, the son of Antonia and Matias Courvier Sr. Clemente was a lifelong resident of Floresville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Joe Courvier and Matias Courvier Jr.; and his sisters, Otilla Lugo, Felice Montoya, and Herlinda Marroquin.

Clemente is survived by his wife, Juanita Martinez Courvier of Floresville; his children, Rebecca Barrientes of Floresville, Rita Courvier of San Antonio, Roxanne Courvier of Floresville, Robert Courvier of Floresville, Ruben Courvier of San Antonio, Ross Courvier of San Antonio, and Clemente Courvier Jr. of Floresville; his siblings, Lupe Martinez, Petra Arriola, and Fernando Courvier; 22 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held Friday, Oct. 28, at 5 p.m. in the Franklin Funeral Home in Floresville, with a rosary recited at 7 p.m.

A funeral Mass was celebrated Saturday at 11:30 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Floresville with the Rev. Phil Henning officiating.

Interment followed in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Floresville.
