ON-CALL CRISIS POOL WORKERS NEEDED. Part-time positions are available for after hours “on-call” crisis workers to respond to mental health crisis for Wilson and Karnes Counties. Duties include crisis interventions, assessments, referrals to stabilization services, and referrals for involuntary treatment services according to the Texas Mental Health Laws. You must have at least a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, sociology, social work, nursing, etc. On-call hours are from 5 p.m.-8 a.m. weekdays, weekends and holidays vary. If selected, you must attend required training and must be able to report to designated safe sites within 1 hour of request for assessment. Compensation is at a rate of $200 per week plus $100 per completed and submitted crisis assessment, and mileage. If interested call Camino Real Community Services, 210-357-0359.

Carolina R. Alvarado passed away Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2011, in San Antonio, Texas, at the age of 69 years, 3 months, and 26 days. She was born on June 30, 1942, in Mexico, the daughter of Ernesto and Felicitas Ramon. She was a resident of Sutherland Springs and was a former resident of Mexico.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Carolina is survived by her husband, Manuel Alvarado of Sutherland Springs; her children, Marissa Castillo and husband Alfredo, Ernestina Martinez and husband Gilberto, and Felix Alvarado, all of Sutherland Springs; her sisters and brother, Enriqueta Sosa of San Antonio, Juanita Calderon of Houston, Josefa Vitela of Mexico, and Manuel Ramon and wife Ulda of Poth; her grandchildren, Gilberto Martinez, Issamar Martinez, Irassema Alvarado, Alfredo Castillo, and Esmeralda Castillo; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held Sunday, Oct. 30, at 5 p.m. in the Franklin Funeral Home Chapel in Floresville, with a rosary recited at 7 p.m.

A funeral Mass was celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. in the St. Ann Catholic Church in La Vernia, with the Rev. Stan Fiuk officiating.

Interment followed in the Sutherland Springs Cemetery in Sutherland Springs.

Serving as pallbearers were Gilberto Martinez, Ernesto Ramon, Gilberto Martinez, Javier Sosa, Ramon Sosa, and Juan Vitela.
