Stockdale competes at district
The Stockdale cross-country teams participated in the District 29-2A meet Oct. 24.
The varsity boys finished fifth in the team competition behind Luling, Cole, Marion, and Nixon-Smiley. Ethan Chavez led the Brahmas with his time of 20:03, followed by Perry Bone in a time of 20:35, and Michael Opela in a time of 21:01. Jordan Jackson ran the course in a time of 22:10, Tristan Marquez did it in 22:19, and Will Morris crossed the finish line in a time of 23:46.
The Stockdale varsity girls finished in fourth place in the team competition behind Luling, Marion, and Cole. Sarah Holguin was fastest for the Lady Brahmas at 15:15, followed by Samantha Jones and Lacey Dugi with times of 16:27 and 17:59, respectively. Victoria Lerma ran the course in a time of 18:22, and Haley Wallace did it in 19:42.
The eighth-grade boys finished in first place in the team competition. Samuel Scriven finished first overall with a personal best time of 13:11, and Austin Akin finished second with a time of 13:42. Devin McMahan ran the course in a time of 16:27, and Aaron Wallace turned in a time of 16:53.
In seventh-grade boys competition, the team from Stockdale finished in first place. Joel Marquez led the Brahmas with his second-place finish in a time of 13:03. Joshua Rangel completed the run in 14:13, Mark Salinas ran it in 16:17, Joseph Bustamante crossed the line in 16:52, and D.J. Garner finished the course in a time of 24:13.
In the seventh-grade girls division, Kirsten Daniels finished as the district champion with a time of 15:38.
