The Pirates and Pirettes of Poth competed in their district cross-country meet Oct. 26 in Dilley. The Pirettes captured the district title, and the Pirates claimed district runner-up honors, allowing both teams to advance to regional competition. Seven individual runners also qualified, as they placed in the top 10.

Four Pirette runners placed in the top 10, with top runner senior Whitney Lynch placing second in a time of 13:10. Justine Quintanilla ran a 13:28 for third place, and Kelli Kolodziej and Devon Dylla came in fourth and fifth with times of 13:32 and 13:36, respectively. Claire Dallmeyer ran a 14:26 for a 12th-place finish, and Keeley McKinney finished up for the Pirettes in 17th place with a time of 14:57.

The Pirates also ran well and had three members in the top 10. Spencer Flieller placed fifth with a time of 18:02, followed by freshman Marcos Guevara, who placed ninth with a time of 18:22. Dylan Sefcik rounded out the top 10 with a time of 18:46. Sherman Evans ran an 18:59 for 12th, and Thomas Rodriquez ran a 19:11 for 13th. Senior Aaron Friesenhahn finished 15th in a time of 19:13, and Jake Sekula ran a 20:53 for a 25th-place finish.

The regional meet will be held in San Antonio this Saturday, Nov. 5.
