Magdalena “Lena” G. Pena, 82, of Smiley, Texas, died Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2011, in Gonzales. She was born on March 26, 1929, in Westhoff.

Lena was a member of St. Philip’s Catholic Church in Smiley.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Zaragosa and Antonia (Mendoza) Gonzalez; her husband, Francisco M. Pena; a brother, Fidel Gonzalez; a daughter, Rosalinda Pena; and a son, Gerardo Silva.

Lena is survived by three daughters, Maria Oralia Camarillo and husband Pete of Smiley, Dalia Martinez and husband George of Gonzales, and Amalia “Molly” Stout and husband Jeff of Hawk Point, Mo.; three sons, Johnny Pena and wife Dora of Leesville, Roy Pena and wife Sarah of Floresville, and Ramon Pena and wife Esther of Stockdale; six brothers; 19 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; one step-brother; two stepsisters; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as many friends.

Visitation was held Friday, Nov. 4, from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. in the Finch Funeral Chapel in Nixon. Deacon John Moreno led the rosary recited at 6:30 p.m.

A funeral Mass was celebrated Saturday at 11 a.m. in St. Philip’s Catholic Church in Smiley with Father Alfonso Gioppato officiating.

Interment followed in the Burriola Cemetery near Smiley.

Memorial donations may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
