Offer condolences


James Henry Gipson, 76, of Austin, Texas, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2011. He was born July 21, 1935, in Wink to Henry Earl and Iva Margruite (Duncan) Gipson.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Betty Jo Alice (Pierdolla) Gipson.

James is survived by his daughter, Peggy Bates and husband Bruce of Cedar Park; his sons, Paul Curtis Gipson of San Marcos and David James Gipson of Austin; his grandchildren, Jason Philip Grams and wife Stephanie, Angela Elizabeth Grams, Lesley Erin Barrera and husband Joe, Lacie Leann Grams, Kimberly Denise Baze and husband Charles, Steven James Schmidt, Eaton Tyler Bates, and Spencer Cameron Bates; 10 great-grandchildren; his brother-in-law, Fred Pierdolla and wife Cherry; his sisters-in-law, Colleen Bownds, Wanda “Pippin” Von Mindon, and Ida Mae Gipson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held Monday, Nov. 7, from 5-8 p.m. in the Finch Funeral Chapel in La Vernia.

A funeral service was held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel.

Interment was held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 7272 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX 75231.
