1920-2011

Helen Emma Mosmeyer Pennartz Wahl went home to be with the Lord Saturday, Nov. 5, 2011. Helen was born Dec. 12, 1920, in Floresville, Texas, the daughter of Walter and Millie Mosmeyer.

Helen lived 90 wonderful years and saw many friends and family pass before her. Even though she endured many hardships and much pain throughout her lifetime, she never lost her faith in Christ. Christmas was her favorite time of year because it was so close to her birthday and she loved all the decorations. She loved life and being with friends and family. She was the type of person who never met a stranger. Her happiest memories were when all the family got together at her house to celebrate special occasions. She loved cooking and baking for her family and made the world’s best German chocolate cake from scratch.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents; first husband Martin Pennartz; infant daughter Louise Carolyn Pennartz; great-grandson Nathan “Nate” Salinas; and son-in-law Davis Guenther.

Helen is survived by her husband of 63 years, Erwin Wahl; her daughters, Virginia Guenther of San Antonio and Betty Ullmann and husband Ron of Burnet; her son, Larry Wahl and wife Pam of Kicaster; her grandchildren, Sindra Salinas, Jason Guenther, Quinton Ullmann, Kristi DeLaRosa, and Lisa Becan; and 11 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Evelyn Pennartz and husband Ewalt and Marilyn Ortmann and husband Leonard Ortmann, all of Floresville; her sister-in-law, Viona Stolle of Karnes City; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held Monday, Nov. 7, at 5 p.m. in the Franklin Funeral Home in Floresville.

A prayer service was held Monday at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.

A funeral service was held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in the First Lutheran Church in Floresville, with Pastor Randy Conley officiating.

Interment followed in the Floresville City Cemetery in Floresville.

Serving as pallbearers were grandsons Jason Guenther, Clinton Ullmann, Philip DeLaRosa, and Steven Salinas; and nephews Bobby Stolle, Bill Lohse, Clyde Pennartz, and Tom Ortmann.

Honorary pallbearers were nephews Bill Stolle and Ronnie Stolle.
