SAN ANTONIO -- The Pirates and Pirettes of Poth competed in the Region IV cross-country competition in San Antonio Nov. 5, with one Pirette advancing on to state competition.
Senior Whitney Lynch turned in a personal record of 12:34 to qualify as an individual in ninth place. Also competing for the Pirettes were Justine Quintanilla, Devon Dylla, Keeley McKinney, and Claire Dallmeyer. The Pirette team placed 10th overall, out of a field of 21 teams competing at the meet.
The Pirates also placed 10th as a team. Dylan Sefcik was the top runner for the boys, and placed 46th with a time of 18:42. Other team members include Spencer Flieller, Marcos Guevara, Sherman Evans, Thomas Rodriquez, Aaron Friesenhahn, and Jake Sekula.
Lynch will compete in the University Interscholastic League (UIL) State Cross-Country Championships Saturday, Nov. 12, at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock.
