SAN ANTONIO -- The San Antonio International Farm and Ranch Show will again host the South Texas Commodity Symposium on Friday, Nov. 11, said event coordinators.

The farm and ranch show will take place Thursday through Saturday, Nov. 10-12, on the San Antonio Livestock Exposition and Freeman Coliseum grounds, 3201 E. Houston St. and One AT&T Center Parkway in San Antonio. Admission is free, and show hours will be from 8:30 a.m. until 7 p.m. all three days. The show’s farm and ranch supplier and service provider trade show will be open from noon to 7 p.m. on Thursday, and from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

Larson said symposium registration would begin Friday at 10:30 a.m., followed by a lunch provided by the South Texas Commodity Symposium from noon-1 p.m., then educational sessions of interest to farmers and ranchers -- most offering continuing education units or credits.

“We’re excited to again be hosting the South Texas Commodity Symposium,” said show founder Lyle Larson. “Symposium participants will include members of various commodity groups or organizations throughout the state, including the Texas Corn Producers, Texas Grain Sorghum Producers, Texas Wheat Producers, South Texas Cotton and Grain Producers, Southwest Council of Agribusiness, and Winter Garden producer groups.”

Additional show activities include a Texas Truck Tractor Association tractor pull the evenings of Friday and Saturday at the Freeman Coliseum, and wine tastings at 5 p.m. and 6:15 p.m., also on these days.

Additional topics at this year’s show will include brush management, forage and weed management, deer nutrition, equine dental and lameness issues, hoof trimming and drenching, weed resistance, fencing, and farm-pond management.
