Virgil R. Hanson, 58, of La Vernia, Texas, passed away Saturday, Nov. 12, 2011. He was born July 2, 1953, in San Antonio, the son of Arthur Franklin and Eunice Hanson.

He was preceded in death by his father and brothers, Charles “Charlie” Hanson, Arthur Hanson, Monroe Hanson, and Tommy Hanson.

Virgil is survived by his wife, Patty (Jewett) Hanson of La Vernia; his son, Dustin Hanson of La Vernia; his mother, Eunice Hanson of San Antonio; his brothers, Frank Hanson and wife Betty of San Antonio and Mike Hanson of Poteet; his sister, Eva Hickman and John Dunn of San Antonio; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving family.

Visitation took place Friday, Nov. 18, from 5-8 p.m. in the Finch Funeral Chapel in La Vernia.

A funeral service was held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.

Interment followed in the Leesville Cemetery in Leesville.

Memorial donations may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
