1938-2011

Dorris Faye Masar, 73, died Thursday, Nov. 17, 2011, in her home in New Braunfels, Texas. She was born on March 29, 1938, in Gulfport, Miss.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Rena (Johnson) Williams; her stepfather; her husband, August Masar on Nov. 2, 2006; and a brother, Larry Brister.

Dorris is survived by her daughter, Martha Masar Nickel of Cedar Creek; two sons, Nathan Masar and wife Janet of La Vernia and Paul Strickland of Round Rock; her sister, Brenda McDonald and husband Darrell of Louisiana; her brother, Jerry Johnson and wife Kathy of Lake Livingston; two grandchildren, Alex Nickel and Joshua Masar; her sisters-in-law, Martha Masar Mahone and Pat Brister; her aunt, Thelma Johnston; and other family and many friends.

Visitation was held Monday, Nov. 21, from 5-8 p.m. in the Finch Funeral Chapel in Nixon.

A graveside funeral service was held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Nixon Cemetery in Nixon.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312; or the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.
