Thompson Center recalls Venture rifles
Smith & Wesson is recalling all Thompson Center Venture rifles manufactured prior to Oct. 28.
During an internal technical review, Smith & Wesson identified a condition that may exist with the sear supplied with some rifles. The sear in some rifles would allow it to fire without the trigger being pulled. In the interest of consumer safety, the company is initiating a recall to allow for the prompt inspection and, if necessary, the repair of each rifle.
A recall was originally announced on Nov. 8 that applied to some Venture rifles, but the latest recall notice was broadened to include all Venture rifles manufactured prior to Oct. 28.
For more information, or to determine if a particular rifle is affected, reference the serial number list located at www.smith-wesson.com/venturerecall or call Smith & Wesson directly at 1-800-713-0356. If a serial number does not fall within the list of affected serial numbers, the rifle is not part of this recall.
