Poth PTO hosts fall festivities
Poth High School’s haunted house cast prepares to scare those brave enough to enter the haunted house.
Every year the Poth PTO organizes a Fall Festival held on the Friday before Halloween. The money raised at the festival is used as scholarship money for the seniors. Two representatives from each class were elected to the fall court which helps raise money for the PTO. Altogether, the students raised over $1200.
The winning class was announced at Friday night’s football game. The freshman representatives, Jessie Montez and Clayton Jaskinia, took first place. The sophomore representatives, Lauren Pape and Blake Lyssy, took second place. The junior representatives, Savannah Runty and Phillip Garza, took third place. Rounding out fourth place was the senior class, represented by Miranda Robles and Colton Jaskinia.
The festival started off Friday afternoon with carnival games, prizes, and food. There was also a pie-throwing contest in which both students and coaches participated. The spook parade took place at 2 p.m. This is where children of all ages get the chance to show off their Halloween costumes. There were five categories in which you could earn trophies: scariest, most Halloween, most original, prettiest, and cutest.
There was a cow patty bingo contest which Kolodziej’s Food Service and Fundraising won. The high school theatre class added a new addition to the festival, organizing the first-ever haunted house which took place inside the cafetorium. Students of all ages thought the haunted house was just scary enough.
Junior Journalist Angelicka Price is a junior at Poth High School. She writes for the school newspaper and hopes to attend college to enter the nursing field. Her parents are Anthony Price and Elisa Guevara.
