1958-2011

Genene A. Burdett-Diaz went to be with the Lord on Friday, Nov. 25, 2011, in San Antonio, Texas, at the age of 53 years, 1 month, and 26 days. Genene was born on Sept. 29, 1958, in Coral Gables, Fla., to Schuyler Graves and June Enid Burdett. She was a resident of Floresville for six years.

She was preceded in death by her father, Schuyler Graves Burdett.

Genene is survived by her husband, Jesus Diaz of Floresville; her mother and step-father, June and Marcelina Hernandez of Rockport; and daughters June Marie Ruth Frieda and husband Edwin of Callihan, Victoria Genene Gillenwater and husband Charlie of Converse, and Dorothy Michel Hedgepeth and husband Mike of San Antonio. She is also survived by her sister, Michel Archembault of North Carolina; her brother, Schuyler “Skip” Burdett of New York; grandchildren Schuyler Boston Burdett, Bradley Solomen Menzo, Logan Otto Frieda, Brianne Hedgepeth, and McKinley Faith Gullenwater (expected here in February 2012); and one niece and one nephew.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, Dec. 4, at 4 p.m. in the Northview Baptist Church in Floresville with the Rev. Chuck Jennings officiating.

A graveside funeral service will be held Monday at 2:30 p.m. in the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.
