AUSTIN -- Here is the fishing report as compiled for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (full report is available at www.tpwd.state.tx.us)

Freshwater

BRAUNIG Water clear. Black bass are fair on crankbaits and watermelon soft plastic worms in reeds. Striped bass are good on silver and gold spoons and marble spinnerbaits near the jetty and dam. Redfish are good on perch, shrimp, shad, tilapia, and silver spoons. Channel catfish are fair on liver, shrimp, and cut bait near the dam. Blue catfish are fair on cut bait and live bait.



BUCHANAN Water clear; 66--70 degrees; 31.95' low. Black bass are good on white buzzbaits, Bleeding Shad Rat--L--Traps, and shad Flukes in larger creeks. Striped bass are good on plastic swim baits, Red Fins, and live bait along the river channel. White bass are fair on Li'l Fishies and Spoiler Shads. Crappie are good on blue/white Curb's crappie jigs and minnows over brush piles. Channel catfish are good on liver, minnows, and stinkbait. Yellow and blue catfish are good on live shad.



CALAVERAS Water clear. Black bass are fair on dark soft plastic worms, spinnerbaits, and crankbaits near the dam. Striped bass are slow. Redfish are good on perch and tilapia near the dam. Channel and blue catfish are good on liver, shrimp, and cheesebait. Yellow catfish are slow.



CANYON LAKE Water clear; 64--68 degrees; 10.19' low. Black bass are good on Fat Free Shads, white/red spinnerbaits, and watermelon Flukes in over brush piles on secondary points. Striped bass are fair to good on Pirk Minnows and Red Fins over humps early. White bass are fair on Li'l Fishies along the river channel. Smallmouth bass are good on smoke JDC curl tail grubs and green pumpkin tubes in 10--20 feet. Crappie are good on minnows and green crappie jigs upriver. Channel catfish are slow. Yellow and blue catfish are good on juglines baited with live perch.



CHOKE CANYON Water clear; 67--71 degrees; 11.49' low. Black bass are fair on watermelon spinnerbaits and soft plastics in 10--20 feet. White bass are slow. Crappie are fair on minnows. Channel and blue catfish are good on stinkbait and minnows in 5--15 feet. Yellow catfish are fair on live perch and goldfish.



COLETO CREEK Water fairly clear; 2.85' low. Black bass are fair on chartreuse soft plastics and spinnerbaits. Striped bass are slow. White bass are slow. Crappie are slow. Channel and blue catfish are fair on stinkbait and shrimp in 10--15 feet. Yellow catfish are fair on trotlines baited with live perch in 10--20 feet.



FALCON Water clear from Marker 14 south, stained above; 70--73 degrees. Black bass are good on deep running crankbaits and jigs in 12--20 feet. Crappie are excellent on shiners and jigs. Striped bass are still in the lake in very limited numbers. Channel and blue catfish are excellent on shrimp and stinkbait. Yellow catfish are slow. Everyone in a boat must have a Mexico fishing license (if fishing the Mexico side) whether fishing or not.



GRANGER Water murky; 65--68 degrees; 5.55' low. Black bass are fair on chartreuse crankbaits upriver around standing timber. White bass are fair upriver among shad. Crappie are slow. Blue catfish are good on prepared bait and juglines baited with shad. Yellow catfish are slow.



LBJ Water clear; 67--71 degrees; 0.16' low. Black bass are fair on plastic swimbaits and Bleeding Shad Rat--L--Traps among schooling shad. Striped bass are fair on live bait early and late. White bass are good on watermelon spinnerbaits and Rat--L--Traps. Crappie are good on chartreuse crappie jigs and live minnows over brush piles. Channel catfish are fair on minnows and nightcrawlers. Yellow and blue catfish are good on trotlines baited with live bait.



TRAVIS Water lightly stained; 67--71 degrees; 54.89' low. Black bass are good on chartreuse worms and white/red topwaters in 10--20 feet. Striped bass are slow. White bass are fair on silver spoons and minnows. Crappie are fair on minnows and blue tube jigs. Channel and blue catfish are fair on nightcrawlers and stinkbait in 20--40 feet. Yellow catfish are slow.



WALTER E. LONG Water lightly stained. Black bass are fair on watermelon spinnerbaits and crankbaits. Hybrid striper are fair on minnows and striper jigs. White bass are slow. Crappie are good on minnows near the dam. Channel and blue catfish are good on liver and shrimp. Yellow catfish are slow.

Saltwater

BAFFIN BAY Trout are good on topwaters and plum plastics around rocks and grass. Trout are good while drifting deep rocks on plum plastics. Trout are good in the Land Cut at night under lights.



BOLIVAR Trout, black drum, sand trout and redfish are good at Rollover Pass. Trout are fair to good while drifting shell on plastics. Bull redfish are good on the beachfront.



CORPUS CHRISTI Bull redfish are good in the surf on mullet and shrimp. Redfish are good in the holes on live bait. Trout are fair to good around spoils for waders working mud on small topwaters.



FREEPORT Bull redfish are good at jetty on crabs, shrimp and mullet. Redfish are good on the beachfront on shad and mullet. Trout are good on the reefs in Christmas Bay and Bastrop Bay on shrimp.



EAST GALVESTON BAY Redfish and flounder are fair to good in the marsh around drains on shrimp. Trout and redfish are good under the birds and over deep shell.



WEST GALVESTON BAY Bull redfish and flounder are good at San Luis Pass on shrimp and shad. Sheepshead, redfish and black drum are good at the jetty on shrimp and crabs.



EAST MATAGORDA Trout and redfish are good for wader working reefs. Trout are good for drifters on live shrimp and soft plastics over humps and scattered shell.



MATAGORDA Trout are fair on sand and grass humps on soft plastics and topwaters. Redfish are fair on live shrimp at Shell Island and Twin Island on shrimp.



PORT ARANSAS Trout are fair to good on reefs on live shrimp and mullet. Bull redfish are good at the jetty and on the beachfront on natural baits. Offshore is good for tuna and ling.



PORT ISABEL Trout and redfish are good at Laguna Vista on TTF Flats Minnows, live shrimp and DOA Shrimp under corks. Redfish are good along the color changes on the outgoing tide on shrimp under a cork.



PORT MANSFIELD Trout are fair to good on the shorelines and spoils on soft plastics and plugs. Redfish are good while drifting pot holes on topwaters and soft plastics under a popping cork. Flounder are fair in East Cut on Gulps.



PORT O’CONNOR Redfish are good in the back lakes on shrimp and mullet. Bull redfish are good at the jetty on crabs, mullet and shad. Trout are fair to good on the reefs in San Antonio Bay on live shrimp.



ROCKPORT Redfish are good on the edge of the flats on live shrimp under a popping cork. Trout are fair to good on topwaters around shell in St. Charles Bay and Aransas Bay.



NORTH SABINE Trout are fair to good under birds and pods of shad on soft plastics. Redfish and flounder are good in the marsh on shrimp.



SOUTH SABINE Trout are fair to good under birds and pods of shad. Redfish are good at the jetty on live bait and cracked crabs. Flounder are good on the falling tide around marsh drains on jigs tipped with shrimp.



SOUTH PADRE Trout are fair to good on soft plastics under corks on the edge of the channel and by the Convention Center Redfish are good in South Bay and Duncan's on DOA Shrimp and TTF Flats Minnows. Mangrove snapper are good at the jetty on shrimp.



TEXAS CITY Gulf trout are good in the channel on fresh shrimp. Sand trout and black drum are good at the wells on fresh shrimp.



TRINITY BAY Trout are good for drifters working pods of shad on Bass Assassins, Trout Killers and Sand Eels. Redfish are good in the marsh on shrimp. Trout are good under birds on plastics and topwaters.
