Rev. Norma Valadez Ramirez, a lifelong resident of Poth, Texas, passed peacefully away Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2011, at 12:21 a.m. in her residence in Poth at the age of 65 years, 2 months, and 15 days, after a valiant battle with cancer.

Norma was born Sept. 15, 1946, in Poth, the oldest child of Flora Valadez and Antonio R. Ramirez Jr. She graduated from Poth High School, class of 1965, and the Latin American Bible School. She received her master’s degree from Azusa Pacific University in La Puente, Calif. Rev. Ramirez was a lifelong member of Emmanuel Assembly of God Church in Poth.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Norma is survived by her brothers and sisters, Israel Valadez Ramirez and wife Rosalia, Antonio Valadez Ramirez III and wife Ofelia, Hilda Ramirez Torres, Celia Ramirez Torres, Albert Valadez Ramirez and wife Becky, Daniel Valadez Ramirez and wife Bel, and Cynthia Ramirez Rodriguez and husband Jonathan; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Visitation was held Friday, Dec. 2, at 5 p.m. in the Emmanuel Assembly of God Church in Poth, with a prayer service held at 7 p.m.

A funeral service was held Saturday at 10 a.m. in the church, with Manuel Vallejo Jr. officiating.

Interment followed in the Emmanuel Assembly of God Cemetery in Poth.

Serving as pallbearers were Jacob Ramirez, Curtis Ramirez, Evie Ramirez, Gina Ramirez, T.J. Ramirez, Nicci Torres, Tarryn Torres, and J.D. Rodriguez. Serving as honorary pallbearer was Faith Ramirez.
