Walter D. Vines, 78, of La Vernia, Texas, passed away Sunday, Nov. 27, 2011.

Walter is survived by his wife, Evelyn A. Vines of La Vernia; his daughters, Terri Cannady and Bob Brown of Schertz, Marguerite Hicks of Universal City, and Lynnette Wasson and husband Julian of New Braunfels; his son, Fred Taylor of Post; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; his sisters, Mary Martin of Missouri and Norene Poarch of Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation took place Thursday, Dec. 1, from 5-8 p.m. in the Finch Funeral Chapel in La Vernia.
