ON-CALL CRISIS POOL WORKERS NEEDED. Part-time positions are available for after hours “on-call” crisis workers to respond to mental health crisis for Wilson and Karnes Counties. Duties include crisis interventions, assessments, referrals to stabilization services, and referrals for involuntary treatment services according to the Texas Mental Health Laws. You must have at least a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, sociology, social work, nursing, etc. On-call hours are from 5 p.m.-8 a.m. weekdays, weekends and holidays vary. If selected, you must attend required training and must be able to report to designated safe sites within 1 hour of request for assessment. Compensation is at a rate of $200 per week plus $100 per completed and submitted crisis assessment, and mileage. If interested call Camino Real Community Services, 210-357-0359.

Ralph Martinez Valdez Jr. passed away on Monday, Nov. 28, 2011, in Austin, Texas, at the age of 53 years, 2 months, and 9 days. He was born on Sept. 19, 1958, in Rosebud to Mary Lou Martinez and Oscar Valdez.

He is survived by his mother, Mary Lou Martinez of Austin; his father, Oscar Valdez of Elsa; his daughter, Maria Valdez of Austin; son Ralph Valdez Jr. of Austin; his sisters, Elizabeth Evans of San Antonio and Maria Valdez of Corpus Christi; his brothers, Oscar Valdez of Austin, Ralph Valdez of Austin, Amador Valdez of San Antonio, and Eddie Valdez of Austin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Friday, Dec. 2, at 5 p.m. in the Franklin Funeral Home in Floresville.

A funeral service was held at 10 a.m. on Saturday in the funeral home chapel.

Interment followed in the Picosa-Martinez Cemetery near Floresville.

Serving as pallbearers were Eddie Valdez, Eddie Gabriel Valdez, Pete Valdez, Ralph Valdez Jr., Elizabeth Valdez Evans, Oscar Valdez, Ruben Valdez, and Stevie Martinez.
