The 81st Judicial District Attorney’s office, which includes Frio, La Salle, Atascosa, Karnes and Wilson Counties, is accepting resumes for an Assistant District Attorney position. The selected candidate will work directly under the Border Prosecution Unit Initiative dedicated to Human Trafficking/Human Smuggling. Responsibilities of the position include working closely with federal, state and local law enforcement agencies, felony intake, preparation of cases for grand jury, negotiating pleas and representation of the State of Texas in pretrial proceedings, as well as in criminal bench trials and jury trials in District Court. All applicants must be a graduate of an accredited law school and licensed to practice law by the State of Texas and have a minimum of fifteen (15) years prosecutorial experience and extensive felony trial experience. 1958-2011

Patrick W. Malik, 52, passed away Friday, Dec. 2, 2011, in Seguin, Texas. He was born on Dec. 8, 1958, in Corpus Christi, the son of August and Celeste “Sally” (Pieprzyca) Malik.

Patrick worked for the Union Pacific Corp. as an accounting auditor.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Patrick is survived by his brother, James Dennis Malik, and cousins Marilyn “Mindy” Jendrusch and Stephen “Steve” Jendrusch, all of Falls City.

Visitation was held on Monday, Dec. 5, in the St. Boniface Catholic Church in Hobson, with a rosary recited at 7:30 p.m.

A funeral Mass was celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the church with Father Gregory Sawicki officiating.

Interment followed in the Falls City Cemetery in Falls City.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Boniface Catholic Church, 358 C.R. 220, Hobson, TX 78117; or to Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund in Falls City.
