Benjamin N. Miculka, loving husband, father, and grandfa-ther, passed peacefully to the Lord on Sunday, Nov. 27, 2011. He was born on March 21, 1921, at home on a farm near Moulton, Texas, to Frank and Bettie Miculka.

Ben joined the National Guard of Texas Oct. 8, 1940. He was activated into the U.S. Army Nov. 25, 1940, with the 141st Infantry Regiment, 36th Infantry Division. While stationed at Fort Sam Houston, Ben was introduced to Annie Schmidt by her uncle, Frank Klasek. They were married in the Gift Chapel at Fort Sam Houston on Aug. 18, 1945.

Ben was discharged Oct. 4, 1945. After the Army, Ben attended Art Center Inc. Commercial Art School in San Antonio for four years, which enhanced his skills as a prominent artist and sculptor in the field of taxidermy. Ben also belonged to the Anglers Club of San Antonio, the Texas Trophy Hunters Association, the American Legion, the Hermann Sons Lodge, and the KJT Catholic Union of Texas. Ben was a lifelong member of St. Benedict’s Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Roman, Frankie, and Anthony; and his sister, Viola.

Ben is survived by his beloved wife, Annie; his son, Ken-neth Miculka and wife Gwyn; his daughters, Patricia and life partner Dale Rasmussen, Donna Barr and husband Larry, and Joan Smith and husband John; his grandchildren, Joseph, Benjamin and wife Suzie, Michael, Frank and wife Stephanie, BeBe and husband Jamie, and Johnny and wife Jennifer; and his great-grandchildren, Walter, Becky, Kohl, Carly, Ashlyn, Parker, and Julia.

The entire family would like to extend their sincerest thanks to the staff of Odyssey Hospice and Frank M. Tejeda Texas State Veterans Home.

Visitation was held Monday, Dec. 5, at 8:30 a.m. in Mission Park Funeral Chapels South in San Antonio.
