Last Tuesday night, the La Vernia junior varsity Lady Bears traveled to Poth to take on the Pirettes.

Coming off Thanksgiving break, the Lady Bears started off slowly, finishing the first quarter down 7-3. The second quarter was much of the same, and the Lady Bears headed into halftime down 19-5.

Trouble at the free-throw line, combined with a very physical Poth team, proved too much for the Lady Bears, as the Pirettes handed them their third loss of the season. The final score was 47-13.

The high scorer for La Vernia was Shelby Ellis with 3 points, followed by Cala Foster, Jordan Bailey, Reagan Roswell, Jennifer Skrzycki, and Courtney Shussler, who each had two points. The loss dropped the team to 5-3 on the year. The Lady Bears were scheduled to host Hondo Dec. 6.
