Harlingen, Texas, December 11, 2011: It is very interesting to watch all the Gingrich haters in action. The Democrats are in two different camps. One faction is working at breakneck speed with their shovels, attempting to dig up all the old Gingrich dirt. The other faction is attempting reverse psychology, repeatedly telling us that Newt Gingrich is the one single candidate they are rooting for, with hopes he will be the GOP choice to do battle with Barrack Obama. Their claim is Gingrich would be the easiest person in the field to beat.
The other interesting show to examine is made up of those “so-called” Washington insider Republicans who know Newt Gingrich best. Their mantra is... they view him as a poor leader, a person of erratic ideas, a man who cannot control his mouth and a person who is emotionally unstable.
It could be argued that perhaps there is growing fear among the establishment Republicans, because they see Gingrich winning the nomination and perhaps the presidency. Those who have made it their life work to cling to any thread of power inside the beltway, also know another certainty...Newt Gingrich does not suffer fools or liars lightly, and Washington is loaded with more of these individuals than a miniature car stuffed to the bursting point with very fat clowns.
To the American public, who live well outside that circle of political misfits and non-performers who make up the population of our nation’s capitol, Newt seems to be a breath of fresh air. He is saying all of those things most of us have either said or wanted to say in public. Though our comments never resonate across the country, in Newt’s case, the nation and much of the world are taking note of his words. Just as so many reacted in shock to the strong, straight foreword language voiced by Ronald Reagan, so do they find fault and even nervously quake when Newt speaks in the same slashing terms. In the case of Ronald Reagan, most of what he said or advocated became a reality. Is it possible the same thing would happen if Newt Gingrich became the primary occupant of the White House?
The myth being promoted by the liberal left is that when it comes to the one-on-one campaign for the presidency, Barrack Obama, with his silver tongue and power to thrill any audience, will slice through the position taken by any opponent. Republicans, who back the former Speaker of the House, see this famous gift of speech that has been credited to the President as an attack point for the right candidate. They feel Newt is the person who can become a wordsmith who will cause Obama to stumble. They believe the Speaker can not only answer him word for word, but also verbally destroy the President in any debate.
This is where GOP faithful find themselves as we move rapidly toward the first votes in a long election trail leading to the next President being elected. Will it be Newt who carries the Republican banner? At this point nobody knows. However, he is a man who is quick to meet his attackers head-on, so Democrats better rethink their desire to have him face off against their champion. They might end up getting a lot more than they wished for at the start of this race. Another thing to remember is the people of America have also lost patience with liars and fools.
