Immanuel Lutheran Church is now hiring for a Youth and Family Ministry Director. Pastoral: Minister to youth and their families during Sunday School and other church programs, being present in their lives outside the church walls, available for common concerns and in crisis situations. Leadership: Recruit and nurture Youth and Family Ministry program. Administration : Manage the planning process and coordinate with Pastor and Youth Committee all regular ministries to youth and their families. This includes youth of all ages on Sunday mornings and mid-week events; assisting with Confirmation, special events, trips and retreats, and parent meetings. Stewardship: Ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of youth programs, manage youth ministry budget, and collaborate with the sponsors of each Youth group. Ability to build, lead, and empower youth. Ability to implement a ministry vision. Familiarity with Lutheran Doctrine required; must be comfortable teaching it and representing Lutheran Theology. Proficient computer skills using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, database, email, internet, and social media. Supervisory experience preferred. Ability to adapt and evaluate curriculum preferred. Must have excellent organization, communication (verbal and written), and listening skills, with a high degree of initiative and accountability. Exceptional interpersonal and relational skills required, with sensitivity to church members and visitors. Understanding and enjoyment of youth and families and guiding their spiritual development. Saragossa ‘Gotcha’ Leal Pacheco went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Dec. 8, 2011, in Floresville, Texas, at the age of 89 years, 5 months, and 29 days. She was a lifelong resident of Graytown. She was born in Floresville on June 9, 1922, to Eptacio and Juanita Leal.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Geronimo A. Pacheco in 1967; her grandson, David Pacheco; her stepdaughter, Oralia Terrazas; and stepson Antonio Pacheco.

Saragossa is survived by her children, Lupe Martinez and husband Eusebio “Cheve” Martinez Sr. of Floresville; Juanita Carrera and husband Richard Carrera Sr. of San Antonio, and Jose Rosendo Pacheco Sr. and wife Gloria of San Antonio; her grandchildren, Eusebio Martinez Jr., Victor Martinez, Velinda Sendejo, and Sharon Cortez and husband Eugene, all of Floresville, Jose Rosendo Pacheco Jr., James Pacheco, Arlene Pacheco, Richard Carrera Jr., and Sarah Trevino and husband Chris, all of San Antonio, and Edward Carrera; angels of love, her great-granddaughters, Maria-Sara Sendejo, Angel Carvajal, Sivannah Martinez, Laura Martinez, Brianna Cortez, Ebony Cortez, Mary-Beth Cortez, Emma Pacheco, Lili Pacheco, and Zayla Carrera.

Visitation was held Monday, Dec. 12, at 5 p.m. in the Franklin Funeral Home Chapel in Floresville, with a rosary recited at 7:30 p.m.

A funeral Mass was celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Floresville, with the Rev. Phil Henning officiating.

Interment followed in the Graytown Cemetery in Wilson County.

Serving as pallbearers were Eusebio Martinez Jr., Victor Martinez, James Pacheco, Chris Trevino, Edward Carrera, and Amador Valdez.

Serving as honorary pallbearers were great-grandsons David Sendejo Jr., Justin Martinez, Gabriel Martinez, Danny Martinez, Eugene Cortez Jr., Cassius Trevino, and Christopher Carrera.
