LA VERNIA -- On Dec. 6, the freshman Lady Bears hosted the Hondo Lady Owls, and dominated the court throughout the game.

The score of the first half was 14-5. The Lady Bears were getting great looks at the basket; shots just were not falling in. The second half saw an improvement in scoring, though, as the Lady Owls put the Lady Bears on the line to shoot free throws. The Lady Bears won the game 35-17.

Ali Saenz led the La Vernia scoring efforts with 10 points, followed by MacKenzie Ford with 8 points. Hunter Vaughn and Miranda Fierro each scored 4 points, and Kelly Poore dropped in another 3 points. Skylar Wilson, Victoria Elizondo, and Bethanie Stuart scored 2 points each. Hannah Jarzombek, Elise Arrendondo, May Keith, and Allison Bukowski also contributed to the team’s victory with their defensive and offensive skills.

The win lifts the Lady Bear freshman team to 6-0, and La Vernia remains the team to beat.
