AUSTIN -- Here is the fishing report as compiled for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (full report is available at www.tpwd.state.tx.us)

Freshwater

BRAUNIG Water clear. Black bass are fair on crankbaits and dark soft plastic worms near the dam. Striped bass are fair on liver and shad near the pier and at Dead Tree Point. Redfish are fair down rigging spoons near the dam. Channel catfish are good on shrimp, cut bait, and cheesebait near the intake. Blue catfish are good on cut bait.



BUCHANAN Water clear; 58--61 degrees; 32.06' low. Black bass are good on watermelon topwaters, perch colored Rat--L--Traps, and Texas rigged silver flake Whacky Sticks in 10--20 feet. Striped bass are fair on Whacky Rigs and Rat--L--Traps along the river channel in 15--30 feet near the dam early. White bass are fair on Li'l Fishies and 2" plastic swim baits in deep creeks. Crappie are fair on chartreuse Curb's crappie jigs and live minnows in clear water.



CALAVERAS Water clear. Black bass are fair on watermelon soft plastic worms, spinnerbaits, and Rat--L--Traps around reed beds. Striped bass are slow. Redfish are fair on live bait and down rigging silver spoons between the crappie wall and the dam. Channel and blue catfish are fair on shad near the railroad bridge. Yellow catfish are slow.



CANYON LAKE Water clear; 60--64 degrees; 10.22' low. Black bass are fair to good on Rat--L--Traps, watermelon spinnerbaits, and Texas rigged grape Scoundrel worms on shaky head jigs along main lake bluffs. Striped bass are fair on Rat--L--Traps and deep running crankbaits over humps early. White bass are slow. Smallmouth bass are fair on smoke JDC curl tail grubs on jigheads, Smokin' Green" Devil's Tongues on drop shots, and pumpkin Curb's jigs along ledges and over rock piles in 10--25 feet early. Crappie are fair on minnows and blue tube jigs upriver.



CHOKE CANYON Water clear; 64--68 degrees; 11.77' low. Black bass are good on chartreuse soft plastics in 15 -- 25 feet. White bass are slow. Crappie are good on minnows and pink tube jigs. Channel and blue catfish are good on nightcrawlers and stinkbait. Yellow catfish are fair on live perch and goldfish.



COLETO CREEK Water fairly clear; 2.83' low. Black bass are fair on minnows. Striped bass are slow. White bass are slow. Crappie are fair on minnows. Channel and blue catfish are good on trotlines baited with live perch and stinkbait. Yellow catfish are good on trotlines baited with liver and perch.



FALCON Water stained; 65--69 degrees. Black bass are fair on deep running crankbaits and jigs in 12--20 feet. Crappie are excellent on shiners and chartreuse/silver jigs. Striped bass are still in the lake in limited numbers. Channel and blue catfish are excellent on frozen shrimp and cut bait. Everyone in a boat must have a Mexico fishing license (if fishing the Mexico side) whether fishing or not.



GRANGER Water murky; 59--62 degrees; 5.14' low. Black bass are slow. White bass are fair upriver among shad. Crappie are slow. Blue catfish are good on prepared bait and juglines baited with shad. Yellow catfish are slow.



LBJ Water clear; 59--62 degrees; 0.23' low. Black bass are good on watermelon topwaters, Curb's buzzbaits, and wacky rigged pumpkinseed Whacky Sticks in 5--10 feet early and late. Striped bass are slow. White bass are fair on Li'l Fishies and jigging Pirk Minnows under birds. Crappie are good on Curb's crappie jigs and live minnows over brush piles.



TRAVIS Water lightly stained; 59--63 degrees; 54.27' low. Black bass are fair on silver crankbaits, watermelon worms, and smoke grubs in 15--30 feet. Striped bass are slow. White bass are fair on Li'l Fishies, white grubs, and minnows in 20--30 feet. Crappie are fair on minnows and chartreuse tube jigs. Channel and blue catfish are fair on nightcrawlers and fresh cut bait. Yellow catfish are slow.



WALTER E. LONG Water lightly stained. Black bass are good on minnows and chartreuse soft plastic worms. Hybrid striper are good on minnows at night. White bass are good on cut shad and minnows near the power plant. Crappie are good on red and white tube jigs. Channel and blue catfish are good on shad and cut bait. Yellow catfish are fair on live bait.

Saltwater

BAFFIN BAY Trout are good on topwaters and plum plastics around rocks and grass. Trout are good while drifting deep rocks on plum plastics. Redfish are fair on the edge of the Intracoastal on mullet and Gulps.



BOLIVAR Trout are fair to good while drifting shell on plastics. Bull redfish are good on the beachfront. Flounder are fair in Rollover Pass on finger mullet and Gulps.



CORPUS CHRISTI Bull redfish are good in the surf on mullet and shrimp. Trout are fair for waders and kayakers in Oso Bay working mud and grass on small topwaters and Corkies.



FREEPORT Bull redfish are good around Surfside and at the Quintana jetty on crabs, shrimp and mullet. Flounder are fair to good at San Luis Pass on jigs tipped with shrimp, finger mullet and Gulps.



EAST GALVESTON BAY Redfish and flounder are fair to good in the marsh around drains on shrimp. Trout and redfish are fair to good over deep shell when the wind allows.



WEST GALVESTON BAY Bull redfish and flounder are good at San Luis Pass on shrimp and shad. Sheepshead, redfish and black drum are good at the jetty on shrimp and crabs.



EAST MATAGORDA Trout and redfish are fair to good for waders working the drop--offs of reefs on MirrOlures and Corkies. Trout are fair for drifters on live shrimp over humps and scattered shell. Trout and flounder are fair to good on muddy shorelines on soft plastics.



MATAGORDA Trout are fair on sand and grass humps on soft plastics and topwaters. Redfish are fair on live shrimp at Shell Island and Mad Island.



PORT ARANSAS Redfish are fair near the channel around Pelican Island on topwaters and Gulps. Bull redfish are good at the jetty and on the beachfront on natural baits.



PORT ISABEL Trout and redfish are good at Laguna Vista and Holly Beach on shrimp under a popping cork and Gulps. Snook and mangrove snapper are good in the Brownsville Ship Channel on shrimp and Gulps.



PORT MANSFIELD Redfish are good while drifting holes on Gulps under a popping cork. Trout and redfish are fair to good on the spoils on slow--sinking MirrOlures and Corkies.



PORT O’CONNOR Redfish are fair to good at the mouths of the back lakes on the falling tide on shrimp and mullet. Bull redfish are good at the jetty on crabs, mullet and shad. Trout are fair to good on the reefs in San Antonio Bay on live shrimp.



ROCKPORT Redfish are good in Redfish Bay on mullet and crabs. Redfish and flounder are good in the Lydia Ann Channel and around Mud Island on shrimp and crabs.



NORTH SABINE Trout are fair to good under birds and pods of shad on soft plastics. Redfish and flounder are good in the marsh on shrimp. Trout are good over mud and shell.



SOUTH SABINE Trout are fair to good under birds and pods of shad. Redfish are good at the jetty on live bait and cracked crabs. Flounder action is good on the edge of the channel on finger mullet.



SOUTH PADRE Trout are good on the edges of the ICW on soft plastics and Gulps. Redfish and trout are good over deep potholes on plastics and Gulps.



TEXAS CITY Gulf trout are good in the channel on fresh shrimp and Gulps. Flounder are good on the edge of the channel on finger mullet and Gulps.



TRINITY BAY Trout are fair to good for drifters working pods of shad and mullet on Bass Assassins, Trout Killers and Sand Eels. Redfish are fair to good in marsh drains on the falling tide.
