Social services experience required.  Responsible for assisting with recruiting and initial training of advocates, and coordinating cases in Wilson County and Karnes County with Atascosa County (home office). Pete Hyatt, 93, formerly of Nixon, Texas, died Monday, Dec. 12, 2011, in Conroe. He was born on June 10, 1918, in Gillett, and was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Nixon. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Amy Lillian (Flowers) and Pleas B. Hyatt Sr.; his wife, Flossie (Moody) Hyatt on March 10, 2005; his daughter, Joan Kitts; his son, A.L. Wells; two brothers, Ira Vernon Hyatt and George Hyatt; and two sisters, Margie Nell Hyatt and LaRue Crawford.

Pete is survived by six daughters, Phillis Walters, Linda Riley and husband James Willingham, and Helen Hunt, all of San Antonio, Joyce White of Las Vegas, Nev., Lee Ann Espinola of Conroe, and Jackie Hallada of Tomball; five sons, Edwin Wells of Dallas, Robert Hyatt and wife Cheryl of San Antonio, P.B. “Buddy” Hyatt III of Sulphur, La., Rick Calahan and wife Julie of Splendora, and Mickey Hyatt of Lafayette, La.; his sister, Pearl English of Seguin; his brothers, Douglas Hyatt of Austin and Donald Hyatt of Stockdale; 116 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and other relatives and many friends.

Visitation was held Saturday, Dec. 17, from noon until 2 p.m. in the Finch Funeral Chapel in Nixon.

A funeral service was held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. Michael Cowey officiating.

Interment followed in the Hyatt Cemetery in Nixon.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
