PLEASANTON -- The freshman Lady Bear basketball team started its district schedule Dec. 13 against the Pleasanton Lady Eagles in Pleasanton. The Lady Bears won the game, 53-24.

Mackenzie Ford led the La Vernia offensive effort with 16 points on the night, followed by Ali Saenz with 11. Kelly Poore was good for 6 points in the Lady Bears’ district opener, and Elise Arrendondo dropped in 5 for La Vernia. Miranda Fierro and Beth Stuart each scored 4 points, Allison Bukowski scored 3, and Victoria Elizondo and Skylar Wilson were each good for 2 points.
